Heartbreak for fallen officer

Updated January 9, 2019: Governor Herbert lowers flags to half-mast to honor the life and service of Joseph Shinners.

January 6, 2019

As news of the Provo City police officer who was shot in Orem last night became public, Utah Attorney General Reyes posted the following on Facebook.

“Hearts breaking here at the Utah Attorney General’s Office for the loss of yet another member of our law enforcement family. Prayers are with the Provo Police Department and the family of this fallen hero. Can’t express sufficient thanks to all our first responder heroes for risking their lives every day for us.”

Please feel free to comment or share (Facebook|Twitter) to express your support for all those who put themselves in harm’s way each day to protect Utah’s families and communities. Please also keep the officer’s family and close circle of friends in your hearts and prayers.

Honoring the Fallen

On Sunday, AG Reyes joined over 1500 motorcyclists to honor Utah police men and women who gave their lives in the line of duty and raise money for the families left behind. The motorcyclists began their ride at Timpanogos Harley Davidson, in Lindon, and finished at the Utah Law Enforcement Memorial on the west side of the Utah State Capitol.

The memorial is the home to 142 plaques naming each Utah law enforcement officer who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Here’s the ABC Good4Utah report.
